New Vehicle Tech and Our Safety

New Vehicle Technology

With so many great safety features and technology advancements coming to the auto industry it's hard to keep up with what's going on. In this article, we're going to cover all the positive changes we're seeing with car technology coming in 2022 and what is planned for the future. Whether you're a parent with a first-time driver or wanting to keep up to date on what's going on you'll find the information you're after here.

Honda Technology Updates and Plans

Honda has been one of the major efforts in aiding the zero vehicle fatalities effort. While most of us in the past have thought of this as an improbable task they have not, and their efforts are showing. To achieve their goal for zero fatalities for both Honda cars and motorcycles by 2050 they will be utilizing two key technologies. With so many variables in the world, it seems like this is a hard goal to achieve and they have certainly stepped up to the challenge. Their AI-powered Intelligent Driver-Assistive Technology is going to have a massive impact on this. This technology takes in many factors and adjusts and alerts the driver of their surroundings so you can stay focused on what's ahead. The second component for this is their Safe and Sound Network Technology. This tech connects all users and Honda vehicles together to help predict and avoid potential risks.

What's New with Chevrolet

Chevrolet is bringing technology to help the new drivers enter the road and do so safely. To achieve this, they're utilizing a technology called Teen Driver Technology. The goal of this tech is to give parents tools to help teach these new drivers the correct and safe way to drive their vehicles. Parents can put restrictions such as no sound until seat belts are buckled, set alerts on the display to remind them to buckle up. To help find out areas for improvement you can also get what is called a driving report card which can highlight areas these drivers can focus on. This technology is a great way to help new drivers learn the proper ways of the road and give parents a little bit of peace of mind.

What Hyundai Is Doing in Car Technology

Hyundai is utilizing a technology called Safe Exit Assist which covers a few areas of safety. When we're exiting our vehicle oftentimes, we don't think of what's coming on the road, and with this technology, you won't have to. Safe Exit Assist prevents your car doors from opening when there is an object like a passing vehicle or a hard-to-spot bicyclist. Not only does this tech help keep you safe, but it also prevents children from opening the car doors at unsafe times, as well as keeping those passing safe. While this isn't a major advancement, it is something that will help keep vehicles safe for all of us.

How BlueCruise is Changing Ford

Many of us have probably seen a Tesla owner driving hands-free and wished we could do the same without the price tag. Thankfully Ford was with the masses on this one and started utilizing BlueCruise. As much as we'd like to take naps on our morning commute to work, the technology here just isn't there yet. BlueCruise is a level 2 on the Society of Automotive Engineers' autonomy scale which means it can maintain speed, brake, and accelerate on its own. While we aren't at the point of full vehicle autonomy just yet this is a step in the right direction.

With all the new vehicle technologies coming around it seems the roads of the future will be far safer than we would have thought 20 years ago. We hope this article from Southtowne Auto Mall has helped inform you on what's going on in the world of vehicle technology and how it's helping us.
